There are a lot of factors that go into setting a price for disc jockey services. Things like the date, time and location can effect the price as well as the amount of equipment, level of interaction, and types of music required. Consequently, I don't list prices on this website. However, I do want to list a few things to consider when submitting a proposal to have me as your DJ.

Number of guests

My most basic school dance DJ package includes enough sound for about 50 guests. As you add more and more guests, there is more and more equipment needed. I'll need to setup, test, and sound check that equipment before your event. That additional work is a reason for me to charge more money for large school dances than for small school dances.

Date and Time

I also provide disc jockey services for weddings, private parties, and corporate events. These other types of events are usually on Fridays and Saturdays and they almost always pay two or three times more than school dances. Consequently, I charge more money for school dances held on Friday and Saturday nights than other nights..

Types of Music

My music is edited to be clean enough for radio play. Still, some schools require more strict standards than that. These schools may require the submission of a playlist before the dance or they may submit an extensive do-not-play list to which I must adhere. Still other school may require that all of the music be of a particular set of genres or decades. These types of requests can drastically increase the preparation time for an event. The increase in preparation time will be reflected in the price for my disc jockey services.

Level of Interaction

Some schools require certain levels of interaction. A school might say that the students are not to make any requests. Another school might say that they want me to lead interactive games and teach and lead line dances. While line dances aren't a big deal, leading other interactive games require special preparation. That will increase the price for which I am willing to perform my services.

Amount of Equipment

Some schools request equipment beyond what is necessary based on the number of guests. The additional equipment might be to extend low-end sound quality (like an 18" sub) or to affect the party atmosphere of the room (up-lights or a dance club lighting system). Again, each piece of equipment that I bring must be setup and tested prior to the start of your party. That means additional costs.

Discounted Prices

There are also reasons that I am willing to lower prices. The most frequent reasons are for charitable causes or Title 1 Schools. In addition to that, you may be willing to provide. I might also be willing to lower my prices slightly for good publicity or written references.
